About the studio

A small studio with a long memory for what works.

Capitol Learning Co. has been quietly helping adults across mid-Michigan finish what they started since 2017. We're a team of three coaches and one very patient office manager working out of a 1920s storefront on Ben Street.

The founder

Thomas Norman, owner & lead coach.

Thomas spent eleven years teaching high-school English and adult-ed math in the Lansing School District before opening Capitol Learning Co. He still teaches the Tuesday-night GED math intensive himself, and writes most of the study plans the studio sends out each week.

He grew up two blocks from the studio. The decision to open here, on Ben Street, was a deliberate one: walkable from the bus line, two doors down from a good bakery, and far enough from campus to feel like its own quiet thing.

If you call (517) 986-9472 during studio hours, the odds are decent he'll pick up.

What we believe

Four working principles.

1

Plans, not promises.

We don't sell scores. We write study plans that fit a real calendar and then we sit with you while you work them.

2

Small on purpose.

No cohort larger than eight. No coach carries more than fifteen weekly learners. That ceiling is the product.

3

Pay for what you use.

Month-to-month memberships, no annual contracts, no automatic upsells, no commission-based advising.

4

Independent, locally owned.

Capitol Learning Co. is not a franchise. We are not affiliated with any school district, college, or testing company.
